Description
This painting got me staring at it for a few days. The work it became is connecting two elements: lightness and randomness of the Deconstructions Series with original weaving paint technique used in some of my earlier works.
There's a place in India, called Bundi. It's a town spread in serene valley, hugged by sandstone mountains, sparkled by the lake and a few step wells. Town is overlooked by a magnificent, abandoned maharaja's palace. Yet still another hundred meters higher the entire area is overseen by a splendid fortress build out of local red stone, almost as if the setting sun needed an invitation to play colours with intense Indian rouge emerging from greenery and a palace below, shining with the yellow juiciness of ripe mango.
First part of the painting appeared to be the path, climbing from the palace up to the fort. When other colours and layers joined, one can still see the path, yet it's also a trunk of a happy elephant. He's got most kind and joyful eyes, the ones you have dancing to your favourite music.
Then I saw Ganesh, almost as if he was winking: 'Go ahead, I cleared the path...'.
