Description
Moroccan markets are filled with this type of mannequins. Women, portrayed as a body part to fuel the economy, where a woman is still a mother, wife, sister, daughter... A life objectified to a function. And suddenly, while no longer needed for service a woman might be cast to the outskirts of society.
These two surely have some stories to tell. What is their unspoken dialogue about? Are they talking about fashion, jewellery, shopping, cooking? Or are they simply enjoying the moment, no longer having to do any of the above?
Morocco welcomes with warmth of the weather and smiles of local people. Running in the rhythm of religious prayers and centuries old tradition. It's mostly men, who say how things are and what a woman's role is in the society.
At the same time, I've met wonderful women, who owned businesses, run companies, serve as doctors...
I am dedicating this work to all the women in Morocco, who in their strength and resolve lead the way, to mothers tirelessly looking after families and little sisters studying for a better future, filling air with careless laughter.
